Empowering young minds to solve global issues and contribute to a better world.

Youth

Empowering young minds to solve global issues and contribute to a better world.

The United Consciousness Global Youth (UCGY) is a new global initiative launched by Project Self, a non-profit organization promoting universal peace, spiritual wisdom, and happiness. The UCGY seeks to identify young people between the ages of 10 and 24 who are inspired to contribute towards solving planetary issues for the benefit of humankind. The initiative is based on research findings that suggest creativity and divergent thinking diminish as we grow older and conform to the education system. The UCGY aims to identify potential global change makers from all six continents, establish a voice for peace and unity among future generations, incubate ideas and nurture creative solutions to better the world, and provide a platform for dialogue and exchange between youth and access to relevant resources.

Research

How NASA's Study Exposed the Education System's Effect on Creative Genius

The NASA study identified that

  • 98% of 5-year-olds were considered creative geniuses.
  • By 10 years old, only 30% of the children tested were considered creative geniuses. That is a difference of 68%!
  • By 15 years old, it was only 12%. Drop in creativity over 10 years was 86%!
  • Less than 2% of the adults tested (N=280,000) in studies were creative geniuses.
  • The most creative human talent is being wasted.
  • Non-creative behaviour is being learned.

How divergent thinking and creativity diminishes as we grow older and as we conform to the “Education System”. Their study concludes that we are born creative geniuses, but that the Education System “dumbs us down”, impeding our creative thinking.

As custodians of the planet incorporating tomorrow’s youth, today’s decision-makers should be collaborating with representatives of our future generations. Today’s young people, inclusive of traditional indigenous populations, can effectively help solve world problems, tapping into the creative insights and unconditioned perspectives of the younger generation.
